SEATTLE – August 23, 2017 — Whether you prefer lederhosen or are drawn in by craft beer, all are welcome to celebrate Oktoberfest at Altstadt in Seattle’s historic Pioneer Square. The festivities start with  on Oktoberfest Brewer’s Kick-Off featuring eight local, Oktoberfest beers on Sept. 16 and continue with a delicious run of festive food, German-style brews, and seasonal cocktails through October.

Washington has established itself as a top brewing state, with many local brewmasters crafting German-style beers. Oktoberfest is the perfect time to draw together these artisans for a great celebration. Altstadt has assembled brewers from around the state to bring their Oktoberfest brews for guests to discover, alongside the restaurant’s authentic and housemade German fare inspired by chef-owner Megan Coombes’ experiences in Germany. The Sept. 16 Oktoberfest Brewer’s Kick-Off runs from 4:00 pm to midnight and will include a live music from The Millennial Falcons, prizes and giveaways and Oktoberfest food and beverages.

For $25, guests will receive a tasting glass and tastes from each of the eight German-style Oktoberfest beers from Washington breweries: Alpine Brewing Company, Black Raven Brewing, Chainline Brewing Company, Diamond Knot Brewing, Dru Bru, Seapine, Silver City Brewery, and Stoup Brewing Company. Each brewery has developed a special Oktoberfest beer for the season that they’ll present at the event. Through October, Altstadt will offer an Oktoberfest flight of local Oktoberfest beers and feature the guest favorite voted at the Kick Off (last year, SODO brewery Seapine’s Festbier won this title).

Guests are invited to enjoy optional hearty German fare before filling that stein! Two-tiered pricing options, $7 or $12, on the Oktoberfest menu, featuring:

• Dampfnudel (savory or sweet): steamed dumpling with either bacon and emmentaler cheese, or vanilla sauce and plums
