Brickyard Brewing - expanding and opening 2nd location in North Bend

Brickyard Brewing just announced that it is expanding production with a new brewing facility in Woodinville and is also opening a second location in North Bend.

For the past few years, Brickyard Brewing has operated via an alternating proprietorship agreement with another Woodinville brewery. That is, two brewing companies shared one brewery. Brickyard is now building a new brewery at the current location of its taproom in Woodinville. The new brewery will be powered by a 15-barrel brewhouse, which will be delivered in early July, with production beginning shortly thereafter.

The company is also expanding to North Bend, where it will open a 4,500 square-foot gastropub. The grand opening date is set for July 1st. Seating capacity will be 150 indoor and another 30 outdoor, plus meeting and event space. The full service restaurant will offer small plates, full-size meals, and 20 beers on tap, focusing on Brickyard Brewing beers but also including some guest taps.

Brickyard Brewing Expands with New Brewhouse and North Bend Brewpub

Brickyard is proud to announce our Brewery Expansion in Woodinville, WA and the brand new Brickyard Brewing North Bend Public House in the heart of North Bend, Washington.

1) What is going on with the production brewery in Woodinville?

For the last few years Brickyard Brewing has been operating in an Alternating Proprietorship arrangement with another local brewery in Woodinville, WA. This has allowed us to produce beer on a 15 barrel brewhouse with our own brewers and fermenters. Last year we made the decision to build a wholly owned brewery in the current Woodinville taproom warehouse. Our new 15 barrel system is arriving early July with production to begin shortly thereafter. We will be moving our fermenters and cooperage management to that location when the new system arrives. Infrastructure has been added at this location to coincide with the new brewhouse.

Max Neumann has taken over the role of Head Brewer and has transformed our beer production into something we can be proud of. He has many years of brewing experience with a focused and careful eye for making a quality product plus the artistic talent for creating unique and interesting recipes.

You can expect to see some big things coming out of Woodinville in the coming months. We have recently acquired 40 fresh wine barrels to begin our barrel program. We are on the lookout for whisky barrels as well. The barrel aged sour/high gravity program will release in 2017.

2) Tell us about North Bend location and when it will be open.

Right now the buildout in North Bend is in full swing. We have acquired the 4,500 sf. McGrath building in the North Bend Historical District. We have gutted the facility and are cleaning, painting and refinishing the kitchen and serving areas. We are building an awesome new 32’ wood bar with plenty of seating. The area will be configured with separate family and adult sections. Our arrangement will have capacity for over 150 seats indoor and another 30 outdoor plus a meeting and event area for local businesses and individuals. There will be many televisions and potentially live music a few times a month. There will be a Mug Club membership for regulars that will include premium glassware and special events.

The North Bend bar has 20 taps for Brickyard beer, guest taps and ciders. We will have house wine and higher end bottles plus a full cocktail bar. We have some fun mixology and house drinks planned. North Bend will have two 15 barrel fermenters for manufacturing beer.

The Brickyard Brewing North Bend Public House is on track for a July 1st soft opening. This will give us a few weeks to get things fine-tuned for the July 15th grand opening which will coincide with the North Bend Block Party. We are hoping to have industry and locals only nights the week before the soft opening if things are done in time.

3) What type of menu will you have in North Bend?

Brickyard Brewing has partnered with local chef Broc Thomson to create a menu of Beer Inspired Gastropub. You can expect to see many smaller, affordable plates plus some higher-end meals which include dry aged steak and seared salmon. Many meals will have recommended beer pairings and some will have Brickyard beers infused into sauces and marinades. Mr. Thomson has created some truly unique and exciting bar snacks such as Fries with Cascade Hop Beer Salt and a Kielbasa Corndog with Beer Mustard and Cheese Dip. House made pretzels will of course be available! We are working hard in the kitchen, AKA the Brockyard, to come up with meals that will be enjoyed by both locals and those passing through.

4) How long has the brewery been around and how many beers do you brew?

Brickyard Brewing was founded by Joe Montero in October 2012 when his home brewing system got out of hand and an ultimatum was made that it must be removed from the family residence. Mr. Montero had recently sold a business and retained warehouse space in Woodinville, WA which was the perfect incubator for a fledgling microbrewery. Brickyard was started with a 1 barrel brewhouse which made two kegs per batch plus and a tiny taproom. Over the intervening years, Brickyard has grown to a 15 barrel brewhouse producing as much as 90 barrels per month. Brickyard distributes beer through Noble Distributing in Washington and Idaho states. Infrastructure is in place to expand production five times current quantities if demand besets us.

Brickyard Brewing currently has 7 beers on tap which will expand to 12 with the opening of the North Bend location. We will have 8 full time beers and 4 rotating recipes ranging from lite beer to IPAs to dark rich stouts

5) What is happening with the Woodinville Taproom?

Brickyard Brewing will retain our Woodinville taproom. It is in fact in the process of being remodeled with new outdoor seating, signage and paint plus additional taps and food. There will be new loft seating in the coming months with games and additional televisions. Our new draft system has 14 taps. Twelve taps for Brickyard beers plus two guest ciders. We have also added a new Brick Oven for making our own Pizzas and Calzones. Come out and see what is new!

6) Why did you pick a North Bend location?

Quoting Joe Montero: “Well to tell the truth, I did not consider North Bend when the initial business plan was made for expansion. Longtime friend and Chef, Broc Thompson made the proposal that Brickyard expand to this location when the historical McGrath Building became available. I am very happy to say that Broc has become a partner in Brickyard and has driven the expansion into North Bend. As I spend time in North Bend I have become enamored with the town and am super excited to visit multiple times a week. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to see the growth and acceptance Brickyard has had over the last few years. I would like to put out a huge Thank You to all of our loyal customers and fans!”

7) Are there any plans for increased distribution?

Brickyard Brewing wholesale products are distributed in Washington and Idaho states through Noble Wines, LTD. As of now there are no plans for increased distribution beyond these areas.
