Peaks and Pints opens on Tuesday, November 1st in The Proctor District, assuming all final inspections are met. They were scheduled to open today but those pesky inspectors got in the way. This neighborhood is relatively unknown to those of us living north of Commencement Bay. In fact, when I say "the Proctor District" it's a dead giveaway that I don't live in Tacoma.

The Proctor is a cool part of town where the city's proud past mingles with the promise of a bright future. It's a great neighborhood, with no shortage of character and charm, and it's a great location for all that Peaks and Pints offers.

Located at 3816 N 26th Street (map), the 21-plus establishment will offer draft beer as well as beer in coolers, a tavern-meets-bottleshop business model that continues to gain popularity across the Northwest. Along with the beer menu, which will focus on Northwest brews, Peaks and Pints will also offer food, or so we hear. Details are a bit hard to come by thus far.

Ron Swarner is the mastermind behind Peaks and Pints. Formerly the publisher of the Weekly Volcano, a Tacoma-based weekly entertainment newspaper, Swarner teamed up with the Peterson brothers to open Peak and Pints, a well-know duo that operates the very cool, beer-friendly Eleven Eleven in Tacoma’s Hilltop neighborhood as well as The Galley food truck that sits outside 7 Seas Brewery in Gig Harbor. Robby and Justin Peterson are the offspring of the folks who run The Swiss Restaurant and Pub, a beloved Tacoma beer institution.

We will continue our report as soon as we have a chance to visit Peaks and Pints (twist my arm). For now, know that more beer will soon be flowing in The Proctor.
