Rock Bottom Brewery in Seattle is closing

Around here, you rarely hear of a brewery closing its doors, and you are much more likely to here of a new brewery opening, but we just learned that Rock Bottom Brewery in Seattle is closing its doors at the end of the year -- at 5:00 PM on New Years Eve.
Josh Dalton, the head brewer at Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery in Seattle, says that the closing is due to the property owners' plans to redevelop Rainier Square, the location of the Seattle branch of the Rock Bottom chain. This is an isolated event, as far as I've been told, and has no impact on the company's 30 other locations.
Josh also says that he's brewed up some special beers to commemorate the closing that will begin showing up on the tap list this week.
Josh intends to stay active in the local brewing industry, which means that, perhaps, another Seattle-area brewery will gain an experienced, award-winning brewer. Here's the letter he asked me to share with the beer-drinking public.
Greetings Beer Lovers,
It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closing of the Rock Bottom Brewery in Seattle. Due to the impending redevelopment of the Rainier Square property, we will permanently close our doors at 5:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the brewers and beer lovers who have enriched my life and have taught me more about beer and life than I could ever recount here. I cannot express how grateful that I am for the opportunity to hone my craft and for the support that all of you have given over my 18+ years brewing in Bellevue and Seattle.
As Rock Bottom Seattle is not long for this earth, in the spirit of Auld Lang Syne, I would like to invite you all to come and visit us during our final month of operations. Please help us reflect, celebrate, and give thanks over a pint of occasion-brewed beers.
I have brewed a line-up composed of beers that I have always had an inclination to brew but never followed through with for one reason or another. The beers will begin to come on-line this week and will continue to come on as space becomes available.
In the short term, I look forward to being a father and husband and raising my two sons, ages 10 years old and 10 ½ months old. In the long term, I look forward to staying involved in the Craft Beer scene in Seattle.
